“GAME ON YA BIG NERDS!”
Gaming's newest bloodsport features America's most competitive amateur gamers facing off against each other in a digital decathlon featuring gaming's top hardware and software developers. The challenge, creating an authentic gaming brand that uses both current design trends and pays homage to the grandfathers of gaming, more commonly known as ‘the arcade’.
The GAMEMASTER logo implements a classic, 3D, style inspired by classic gaming, cinema and pop culture art styles. This "retro" style is further enhanced and modernized by the "neon" styling classically found in arcades and commonly substituted with RGB lighting for a similar effect. The GAMEMASTER brand is intended to be representative of both past and present gaming culture.

Colors chosen for the brand highlight the colors and tones used in early American arcades to create a space with a vibrant and exciting energy often set upon a dark backdrop further enhancing these bold or extreme color choices. These colors have been selected to recreate the sense early arcade goers felt exploring the darkness of the room with their eyes taking in the now iconic arcade cabinet artwork lit by little more than the neon signage and screens of the games themselves. The variations of purple, red, gold and orange, often highly saturated, are balanced and complimented by the clean blue recreating the energy and vibrancy these futuristic spaces attempted to create in the early days of gaming.
Hawk the GAMEMASTER
To the victor goes the spoils, a $250,000 prize package and the ultimate achievement unlocked - life as a full time gamer and streamer; however, we needed a host, a master, a true GAMEMASTER progenitor. The team and I decided on the name HAWK (The meaning behind Is name is a secret that can’t be revealed just yet). We wanted a mascot that represented the arcade gamer theme, while also having a bit of mastery, edge, and coolness.
We explored various designs, from arcade machines, to robo-shoguns, and even androids, and we ultimately ended with a healthy combination of all of our explorations. Hawk’s colorful design, main-character stature, and retro vibe worked perfectly with the brand logo, and worked even better as a potential poster boy for merchandise.
GAMEMASTER is still in production and expects to begin late 2023:
